The government said that realized coal domestic market obligation (DMO) as per November of this year has reached 85 million tons, or 70.25 percent of the full-year coal DMO target of 121 million tons.
“Of the 121 million tons target, it has reached 85 million tons,” said Sri Rahardjo, Director of Coal Management and Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, on Wednesday the Coal Buyers and Producers Meeting 2018 in Jakarta.
Sri said that coal miners still have a couple of months to fulfill their respective 2018 coal DMO quota.
According to existing regulation, coal miners are obliged to allocate at least 25 percent of their coal output for the domestic market. Miners failing to meet the coal DMO quota this year will risk their coal production target next year cut down by the government.
Sri said that as per September of this year, the country’s coal production has reached 390 million tons, out of the full-year target of 485 million tons.
