Britmindo Group and Associates present “Mining in a Day”

The Britmindo Group together with PT Danmar Explorindo, PT Geo Search, QCC Resources and Dassault Systemes-Geovia held a seminar for the first time on Sept 1st, 2015 at the Novotel Hotel Balikpapan. Over 100 participants attended the “Mining in a Day” seminar that covered topics such as Drilling & Exploration, Coal Analysis and Processing, JORC 2012 Resource & Reserve Reporting, Mine Planning & Software Solutions, Mine Reclamation & Rehabilitation, GIS services, Mine Management Services, and Cost Reduction & Operational Efficiency initiatives.

The Moderator for the seminar was Mr. Ben Lawson, Chief Operating Officer of PT Sanaman Coal. The seminar also brought together several speakers with international technical experience namely Mr. Ian Anderberg from QCC Resources, Mr. Ben Farquharson from Dassault Sytemes-Geovia and Mr. Donald Nuske from PT Skygem.

PT Danmar Explorindo, represented by Mr. Daniel Madre, opened the seminar with their presentation about Indonesia’s coal potential and the future of coal exploration in Indonesia. He also discussed about the important role of the Competent Person. Ms. Kartika Dwi Handayani from Britmindo Group discussed about the geological modeling aspects before the lunch break.

Britmindo Group Director, Mr. Stephen Nye talked about Britmindo’s wide range of services including the Mine Management Services followed by a presentation from Mr. Sean Pellow, Principal Mining Engineer of Britmindo Group, who discussed mining cost reduction initiatives. Other Britmindo Group presentations were given by Mr. Ruly Frans Satrio, Sr. Mining Engineer, and Mr. Andy Gusty Rangga, GIS Superintendent.

In this awkward economic climate, the speakers mentioned the importance to work in close cooperation to meet the challenging times ahead. Many participants commented that the seminar was helpful and effective for them in helping to understand potential areas for improved efficiencies in their current mining operations and also developing their knowledge to face the current economic situation.
